If there were any bids for the PLC yesterday they may be discussed with the bank, creditors and shareholders before more legal costs of moving onto the next step, what ever it may be?.

Sorry for thread drift, but funny you mention this, and it may be correct, but I was looking at it the other day and it suggested that a lot of the mainline stock at Tyseley is leased from HSBC Rail?

That is correct, a number of the MK2’s are leased from HSBC, have been since they replaced WCR stock on the Shakespeare’s.

Did the £147K from the Welsh Government go to the Trust or the PLC?

A lot of speculation on here about business models, some of it interesting, but little of it probably relevant now to LR.

Returning to the railway itself (and I've not trawled the whole of the previous 1000 posts) it appears much of the privately owned locomotives and stock is departing in the circumstances.
What, if anything, is likely to be left for any putative restart?

I'm a former member and (long ago and briefly) volunteer, and keeping everything crossed for a phoenix here.

A very economical group of locomotives, ideal for a branchline!

IIRC, the DMUs are owned by the Llangollen Railcar Trust. The 104's are privately owned

7754, Jennifer and Austin 1 are all up for sale by the Trust to fund purchase of essential Plc assets. They hope the new owners might choose to keep them at Llangollen, but no guarantee that will happen.

80072 now out of ticket, as reported on this thread owning group dont have the funds to complete overhaul
5532 appeals for funds to complete restoration still ongoing
3802 unlikely to steam at llangollen for the foreseable future as the railway are unlikely to be running trains any time soon, so could go out on hire looking for steaming fees
Roumour has it that the check rails have not been fitted to dee bridge as the receiver is on site and has prevented this work being carried out

You’ll find the press release said there were 3 funding options. The final one being selling those locos, not the first option.

I think that the National Museum of Wales might have something to say about 7754 being sold. They gifted it to the Trust. Quite frankly, I can't see it happening.

There may have been a caveat to the donation of 'Jennifer' to the trust also.

The press release also quotes the Trust as saying the following regarding the 3 locos:

‘we do not have the income or resources to own and maintain them’

That sounds very much like decision made to me, but I may be wrong.

Knowing someone who has got in touch about one of those locos, no firm decision has as yet been made about selling engines - as mentioned in a comment above, it is currently an option being considered.

Isn’t the overhaul of 7754 virtually complete? What’s a freshly overhauled Pannier worth? Must be quite a bit.

But yes then there is the issue of can it be sold, considering it was donated to the Trust by the Museum of Wales.

Despite what the Trust says about not having the resources to keep the locos, keeping 7754 would make sense in many ways. Freshly overhauled so could (hopefully) be used for 10 years, with the cost of running repairs and maintenance similar to what would be paid to hire in a different loco.

How come the 80072 group do not have the funding to overhaul it? It was very much a touring locomotive and I cannot remember it being stopped for repairs at any time during its ticket. Seems strange to me. It spent probably more time operating away from Llangollen than on it.

You must add on the steaming fees to the cost of any hired in loco as well as the cost for routine maintenance.
