What do you want to know? It's being done very thoroughly by two chaps at the Welland Vintage Traction Club.

Lord Granby now largely stripped for assessment. Some fascinating repairs and component swaps have come to light, and the group are pleased to find corrosion and damage not as extensive as they feared. The boiler in particular has survived well. Pictures soon!

Click the link above and you'll find our newsletters. Briefly, we've finished stripping the engine, de-tubed the boiler for survey, had the tyres and journals turned and are now starting to blast and paint the frames. Progress has been slowed by the need to do some serious housekeeping in the workshop, but we now have a draught-free and well lit building. Time and money well spent on a pleasant place to work.

We are in need of a lot of the brass fittings, a front sandbox and various other bits. Anybody have an idea where to advertise for those?

You could try either the Narrow Gauge Railway Society at http://www.ngrs.org/

or you could also try The Industrial Railway Society at http://www.irsociety.co.uk/

Both groups may know where you can get new ones made, but as you have said the brass ware is missing and to get new ones made you will need to find works drawings if it is possible.

If you do need drawings, I suggest that you contact Statfold Barn Railway at https://www.facebook.com/Statfold-Barn-Railway-162397600621275/ and ask for Henry Noon, I am sure they may have drawings, plus they have a very good workshop and they also do a bit of steam loco restoration work themselves.

Seriously for a moment both Graham Lee and Henry Noon would be my first port of call for help

    Regards

    Colin Rainsbury

    Colin,

We've had help and copies of all avaliable drawings from Statfold, but we'd like to exhaust all secondhand sources before making new bits.
