Was thinking of going down for this having had fond memories of the 90's steam on the met. Quite frankly it is severely overpriced for a vastly scaled down operation. This is the same weekend as the Gloucs Warks re-opening weekend, that is much closer and much better value! Despite this I suspect it will sell out..

I think basically LUL know their market very well and know demand is likely to outstrip supply (a theory supported by January's runs), so can probably charge more without it affecting the numbers traveling at all.

I just checked the availability for carriage 353, it is sold out for all the steam hauled trips and there are some left for each of the diesel hauled trains.

When I went to book yesterday evening about 10.00pm, it was sold out for my preferred train on Saturday and I got the last seat on my second choice train

First class now fully booked for all except the last diesel run on the Monday. Not surprising considering how few seats there are in 353 and the small differential between first and second class fares.

I can't say i'm impressed by the idea but then i suppose the livery carried by the 4TC and the choppers are hardly authentic either. A real shame L94 isn't involved.

I like it too. Looks different and it's another great way to celebrate this wonderful achievement. It's not as if its going to be painted like that FOREVER!! Or is it...

Oh boy this image was sent to me this morning...

I kind of like it, not sure this would ever have been kosher though, but if you look at it from the perspective that it has been hired by LUL, then it is no different to the class 20's being painted either.

Was just wondering whether the choice of locos have something to do with the Owners willingness to Fit the loco with Westinghouse Brake's.

Met No1 isn't fitted with air brakes so i'd be surprised if that was an issue, it may just be down to familiarity with the Flour Mill chaps. Presumably the problem fitting L94 with tripcocks to act as a standby in January was insurmountable.

I always thought when using the 4TC as stock, the air was supplied by Sarah Siddons or the class 20 and the loco just had a brake valve fitted as opposed to full air braking with the pumps and piping ?.

You are correct. IIRC the only air braked steam locos to work Steam on the Met were the B12 and the N7. The rest were vacuum braked with air supplied by Sarah Siddons or the Class 20 on the back.

I'm surprised the two LT panniers (one mainline registered) haven't been called upon.
Is Met No1 fitted with air brakes, or is it just a through pipe ?.. Take a look at recent pictures.
The restored Met coach has air brakes, don't know about the milk van though.
