The story goes on during recovery it was being transported by low loader away and got stuck.

The pilot walked away; so it wasn't a bad landing :)
Hope that all the metalwork gets straightened out soon; pity about the wing on that traffic light as it seems that the crash damage wasn't too serious.

Obviously wasn't a stunt pilot driving the lorry - otherwise a simple 'wing-over' would have solved the problem...:)

Could be hidden damage, landing in tall crops really stops you quickly and puts a lot of strain on the wings. (Has been known to take the wing off a glider trying that and their approach speeds are a lot lower than the Mustang!)

Caused rather a long queue on the A505 this afternoon. Fortunately I know the back roads so was not inconvenienced on my homeward journey. :)

Propellers for P51s whilst not cheap, are relatively plentiful.

Going a bit off topic, a P-47 pilot went a tad low during a ground strafing run in WW2. Afterwards he noticed she was running a "bit lumpy". On landing and once the engine had stopped, it was noticed that his propeller was a tad bent where it had struck the ground - didn't look unlike the one on the Duxford P-51 - so no wonder she ran a "bit lumpy". :)
