For those interested. The project North Wales Light Rail Transit has now been renamed simply as North Wales Transit or NWT. Thanks

Ah I see - you've given up that daft idea about trams and are are planning to run Transit Vans around North Wales - sounds far more sensible.

Hi. There's been quite a lot happening with the NWT project. I went to the car show in Germany recently and had the chance to discuss future plans regarding the car industry with reps there, looks like in the very near future anything which runs on fossilised fuel is dead on it's feet, this has caused me to go over the plans for the NWT again in regards to motor power supply. I am becoming increasingly aware that the idea for an onboard power generator is not perhaps the best idea and that complete overhead electrification would in fact turn out to be the cheaper option for the future, any problems with the loading gauge on the FR could, i believe be dealt with. Also, i am now more than ever convinced that on road running in the more populated areas is the best idea even more so that current road traffic speeds will continue to be reduced. Lastly, i am very glad to see that people are becoming more and more interested in this project going by the response i have had on the net, plus the letters i have recieved from people in the area concerned.

Oh I won't, believe me. I'm far too busy splitting my sides laughing to do that.

Would you be so kind as to post links to this net response, because it certainly seems to me that you have no web presence at all. If you feel unable to provide the links to this alleged positive response, please feel free to clear off before you get banned again.

I would have thought that if as you state, there has been a lot of interest in the NWT, then there would have been some mention in this publication..:-k

Hi everyone. Now the NWT project has it's own thread i feel it's time for more explanation. The North Wales Transit project is about the construction of tramway system around the Snowdonia national park. Starting from Llandudno through Bangor down the WHR/FR and then back around to Llandudno using off the shelf, high speed, three car electric tramway articulated units. The original plan was to place an generator in the centre car is presently being discarded due to the eventual rise in the cost of fossilised fuels. Work is presently being carried out on the specifications of these units in relation to their compatibility and usage. This project has for target to create an modern tramway system with primarily an social and ecological role, low pricing etc. There is no intention to interfere with the running of the heritage trains over the WHR/FR. This is an long term project, which as time moves on will become more and more an feasible alternative.

A two-foot gauge overhead wire electric tramway from Bangor to Caernarfon might be an interesting project.....

Lets have a few more details then Rennie. Is the Llandudno/Bangor section new build railway or running down the NWC? Same goes for the Blaeneau/Llandudno section 2` or standard gauge, and again the Bangor/Caernarfon section? At least confirming the route gauges we good give us some idea of the feasability of the system?
