Sorry I was reading something on Avonside and made a slip. It's Beyer Peacock 1827, thanks for reminding me that I am getting old and that the connection between brain and fingers is not always reliable....

Hmm might have to pop down. What is the limit of operation?

On another note, how is the Transport and Works order coming along?

Sorry for being late replying as I am away most weekends. The TWO is progressing but like anything that has to do with officialdom it will take time. There is plenty going on behind the scenes but as it is largely paperwork there does not seem to be physical progress. The lease is done and the additional land is available.

The limit of public operation is the station limits and down to the bridge behind Sainsburys.

Talking about limits of operation here is a picture of just short of the current limit with the newly erected starter signal. And steam as well.

Now just imagine a large loco and coaches waiting for the road. As a reminder here is how it looked a few years ago

Still plenty to do but plenty more to come. Roll on the day when the paperwork is signed off.

Having not payed much attention for a while, what will the applied for T&WO cover?

And what proposals does CHR have for returning Heritage Services to the line, ie is it all in one or will it be in stages?

Alan was a great chap who kept the line clear during 'the wilderness' years and deserved recognition, such a shame he could not see the current and future progress. It is fitting that others will know his name. It's a pity that much of his photo album has gone which almost showed every length of rail on the line.

The order will cover the whole line, as for which bit will be done first and the timing that is something that money will decide. There are many options but they all come with price tags and difficulties. The first step was the lease, the second is the T&WO and then it's time for action. Unlikely that it will be a push to open all at once so there will be stages and goals along the way.
Just to say that all costs and expenses are met from income, there is currently no fairy godmother and the company trades well within it's means. Progress will continue in the steady way. Unless I win the lottery.....

…Thanks for your kind words Noel and Ilvaporista. Alun was my brother. His passing has been one of those classic ripple effects – it’s been felt far and wide. For a such a young person, he had achieved so much and touched the lives of so many. The plates were paid for by both the family and fellow CHR volunteers alike. I was proud to collect them from Procast in Cleckheaton while passing on the M62 on a work trip.

As for his photo collection, we have it safe as a family but not all the caption info from his narrative unfortunately as these died with the Fotopic downfall. On a brighter note, many of his photos live on on the old Cambrian Railways Society website which I personally pay for to keep live as living memorial and for the all the useful archive of history it contains.

    Dear all,

Peter Johnson is giving a lecture called 'The Cambrian Railways, a new history' in Oswestry next Saturday (October 18).
He will be signing copies of his new book of the same title.

Organised by Cambrian Heritage Railways (CHR), it will take place at the Memorial Hall (SY11 2EG) from 1830hrs. Tickets cost £3 or £1.50 for CHR members. Tea and biscuits will be provided.

    See the attached flyer.

    Hope it's of interest :)

It's still in progress, the latest magazine gives a very encouraging update. Due to the length of the line there are a large number of interested parties all along who need detailed information that takes time to put in place.

Only come lately to this thread but has anyone suggested the Internet archive Wayback machine?

    http://archive.org/web/

Some sites got archived quite regularly by this, it would require the original URL to be placed in search box.

    Update on TWAO Submission
    [IMG]by webmaster » Mon Mar 02, 2015 12:53 pm
As an update for members on the TWAO progress, a drop in session for the public has been organised for this Thursday 5th March at Oswestry Station between Midday and 8pm where the TWAO team will be on hand to answer the publics questions.

Consultation letters to all the properties along side the line from Gobowen to Blodwel have now been delivered by hand.

The actual order is currently scheduled to be submitted later this month

Can anyone explain who owns the small section between Llynclys Junction and south Llynclys? Is the line southwards from there covered by the TWAO?
