Came across the following drone footage of the English Riviera tour from last Saturday, unlike some drone footage I’ve seen, it has sound (of which the Brit sounds too in fine fettle too with little noise from the diesel behind) - fairly amazing what can be achieved now and felt worth sharing here.

 

The sound is from it travelling about 10-20 mph, not cruising along the seawall. Impressive video though.

 

Hadn’t picked up on that! The Youtube link had been sent onto me and will teach me for playing it back all be it fairly quietly whilst at work!

 

Probably the best drone footage I've ever seen. The audio, not so much !

 

If you're flying a drone beside a train in that way, you presumably have to concentrate on the view that the drone is seeing, not on what's ahead of it, so you have to hope it doesn't hit something. No audio at all would be far better than audio that is obviously wrong.

 

I'm on today's English Riviera Express. Just leaving Norton Fitzwarren with Britannia. Class 47 that brought us here is staying behind. No steam ban in the SW today so it should be an unassisted run (although we still have another Class 47 on the back).

 

70000 at Kingswear

 

Back at Fairwater Yard where Britannia has just uncoupled. It's been a fantastic trip with 70000, I don't think the diesel at the back assisted anywhere. The climb up Torre Bank on the way back was the highlight for me. The noise from 70000 was deafening 4 coaches back, clearly working very hard. I'm in one of the Mk 1s, where the windows have been open all day, and my table surface is covered with soot, which is exactly what you want at the end of a steam trip!

Frankly amazed, there's been no rain here in Shropshire for days and high temperatures are forecast today.

 

Quite, bone dry in north Herefordshire too. So do we know if the 37s will operate on their own or with a loco in token light steam?

 

I guess this means the 37 is leading !

 

Thanks, maybe the 47 at the front with Braunton would be more authentic.!

 

Just see the train leaving Bristol. The 37 is on the front leading Braunton.

 

I am a steam enthusiast through and through but running a steam railtour when the lineside and neighbouring fields are so dry is ridiculous.

At Horfield bank the 37 was working flat out along with the 47 at the rear. Braunton was there to produce the black clag. [BJ]
