Looking at the Bristol moves, I'd have thought top and tailed with the front diesel coming off at Hanwell?

It might be worth seeing the return leg use the Down Main at Headcorn!! Screenshot 2023-03-30 at 11.12.28.png

I would suggest there is an error there as the load shown for the return, let alone the speed, differs from that on the steam leg on the way down, by some 290 tons. Hence the acceleration characteristics will be somewhat different unless the 47 is going to be doing all the work from the rear. Unless LSL have found a way to fit a turbocharger during the layover at Canterbury of course.:)

Yes, in which case I don't think I will bother with my planned trip to Paddock Wood and Tonbridge! Given the Saphos set used, even with a Bulleid being used it would have been a tricky decision whether to bother. Thanks for the information.

I suspect someone selected DM instead of UM! ( it's easily done.... ) The crosover to the Down line is the London side of Headcorn anyway.
I think the intention is for the special to be held on the Up Main at signal AD606 to allow 2W54 1600 Dover P to Charing Cross to overtake in view of the water stop at Paddock Wood. Just as long as the train isn't too long and locks the detection on the country end Up Main to Up Platform loop points.

    Cheers, Neil

Surely no more than loco plus 12? Is the up non-platform/freight loop still in use/available, I wonder?

The travelling punters (i.e. the ones who matter) won't care (in fact might hear more noise from 61306 than a Bulleid) but what a hotch-potch of an ensemble!

I don’t think the Arrows would fit but I wouldn’t be surprised if if they use the headboard and flags. A mixed bag of Mk1/2/3 stock and a B1, them Golden Arrow it ain’t.

Noted on RTT was 38 early after Charing - was that a water stop (shown to be scheduled to wait there for 41 minutes) that wasn't used and, if so, what does that say about how 61306 is being worked, I wonder? Perhaps it was only a pathing stop?

Indeed - I keep reminding myself that the passengers really probably only want some form of steam at the front, but this is a scrape! A B1 found itself at Redhill shed in 1964 after working an inter-regional train - if it had been summoned to Victoria to work a prestige train...

I wonder what arrangement Saphos came to with LSL/Steam Dreams to use 61306 (or am I behind the times regarding the loco's management?).

I thought 61306 was an LSL pool loco. So Saphos use should be expected.

Yes mistakes can happen, but does this sort of thing cause any knock-on issues? Given that RTT takes its data from NR, is there no NR system check to detect potential errors like this? It may have no bearing on real-life operations on the day, but I wonder how perfectly normal/predictable human errors like this actually affect things.
