    I assume that patterns exist for the casting of Slate waggon wheels, axel boxes, bobbins, couplings etc... to build replica wooden slate waggons. Could somebody point me in the direction of the right person to speak to about possibly finding out the costs involved in acquiring some of these and a set of drawings for a 12" to the foot wooden slate waggon.

    The chances of finding some original wooden waggons in need of restoration available to purchase is probably nil?

    Thank you in advance.

    Russell.

    Hi,

    May be worth trying either ( or both ) Penrhyn and Corris. Penrhyn have recently had new wheelsets made for their 'open' carriages and the folk at Corris have been restoring some heritage waggons.

    There's pictures on their websites;

    and
    http://www.corris.co.uk/

    Pretty sure there's contact details too.

    Good luck
    John

    The Welsh Slate Museum at Llanberis has hundreds of vintage patterns . You could ask them whether they have any which are relevant to slate wagons.

    You could try Iain Wilkinson at the FR.
