I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the S.African external driving seat is unlikely to feature on the WHR ..... probs a tad on the chilly side at these latitudes. :(

Splendid shot. Cheers muchly Ken. The best I have are monochrome pix in an old volume on Indian 2'-0" and 2'-6" gauge.

As conversion of the last stretch to 5'-6" gauge was only a couple of years back, any idea if there's anything in the way of frames, bogies, wheelsets or even a complete diesel still kicking around for sale?

Probably also not recommended due to the loading gauge...

The NGG16s still had them when they only ran to Dinas. They are an interference fit with the rest of the railway.

134 will have the cab extended so you probably wouldn't be able to reach anything even if it did have one.

Suprisingly, Porthmadog is often one of the hottest places in the UK.

Call me a pedant but I think that mainstream opinion goes with Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The ampersand does not feature IMG_20221130_211827528.jpg

Both Darjeeling and the Himalayas are at the top end of the line.

Loco was delivered to the Little Braxted Railway near Witham last week, according to a post on their Facebook page earlier.

That's exactly what I thought! That's come straight out of service and been put in a shed for 50 years. The only thing that's been touched is the worksplates have been repainted.

All the Sabero locos are basically as they came out of traffic. That doesn't mean they don't need a fair amount of work to make them usable of course, but it is an easier starting point than something dumped outside for 50 years.

Not all of the collection was rescued in that good a condition unfortunately. Hopefully this year a fair chunk of it will go on display in Aber too.

A certain 50cm gauge loco in Italy followed a similar rationale.
