Text Alerts?

Well it seems to have gone pretty well for a first trial. I was surprised though not to get any texts between the one I sent from Bath and my arrival at Wokingham a couple of hours later. Let's hope people do send in more live updates with future trips :cell:

Our worries about receiving lots of updates every time it passed a station seem unfounded for now!

 

As I said, they are all working for me on Opera. I have 10 but two are "strays" one says "stop" & the other says "5884".

 

What a useful tool. I look forward to trying it out on the 20th with 60163. It'll be interesting to watch it develop.

 

I shall be using this for the Cheshireman today so I hope there are some people about to post updates when the tour is on the west side of the Penines. I am going somewhere near Altringham-Mobberley I think.

 

Please use the following commands exactly.

NATPRES t0612b START
NATPRES t0612b STOP

If you wish to stop or start to receive updates from todays tours.
Use the following to send updates
NATPRES t0612b And your update would go here

for all yours you must have NATPRES at the start.
then your 6 digit tour code for example t0612b

Please note there are spaces between the words and codes,

Anything else will get through the system.

 

I see what you mean, there are some really weird messages in the railtours live link. One question, is it possible to remove old tour messages from the link otherwise it will get a bit cluttered, ie 6201's Thursday's trip is still there.

Mine seems to have worked ok from Ashley for the Cheshireman. I sent the departing one twice as when I looked in my sent messages on the mobile it hadn't appeared and the signal was very weak.

 

Err ok, I just realised I put the Loco number in wrong when I texted... :redface:

I set up a draft whilst waiting so it was wrong on both my updates as I just edited the arrive and depart times.

 

I have added a promotional code system, currently only for new members when they register.

Complete lack of messages about the Torbay Express today.

 

Their are only 4 members subscribed to this tour. Original thoughts about too many messages seems to be totally unfounded for the moment, maybe this is why members are not sending updates..

 

I have has about 20 messages come through badly formatted.
I will be sending out a FREE text message to all users with the format of the text that is needed.

Can we send messages, ie updates, in upper or lower case? Your examples show upper case.

 

I have found I could send it in lowercase, including the Natpres bit and the tour code. They appeared ok on the forum and were also forwarded to subscribers ok.
