Fire was in the oil collector drum apparently. According to people on board the engines were kept running. I saw her at Langford but not being worked hdd so difficult to tell if on both engines or just the one. The schedule appears to be very slack so she should be OK even on one - assuming no more fires of course. Looked an absolute treat in the morning sun.

I suspect it will be watered at Doncaster RMT and High Dyke( stops shown at both). These are the locations Tornado was watered on the Durham trip on the 30th June.

Cheers for that. I hadn't looked for suitable stops after Donny, & as I was out of the country on 30th June hadn't seen details of that day's schedule. TY to Donny just struck me as a long run between top-ups, but these guys do know what they're doing - I'm certainly not implying any risks being taken, if anyone thinks that I am...

Certainly looked like it was running on 2 engines at Sandy, sounded lovely opening up through the station. Nice to see a Deltic other than D9000 on the mainline again at last.

I think it's idling or running at low power for a while which causes the gunk to build up in Deltic exhausts which can then ignite, when 55022 caught fire at Berwick on it's first Mainline run, the fact it was left idling for hours at Edinburgh for hours prior to the tour because someone didn't want to shut it down incase it didn't restart was definetly a factor, for D9009, the 200 miles or so light engine yesturday could have something to do with the build up.

Anyway here's a video of 55022's exhaust fire at Berwick for those who haven't seen one and are curious: Deltic Firestarter - YouTube fast forwrd to 0:35 if you want to miss the music

Presumably with the unexpected huge ching to East Coast in the process, some poor sod is presumably going to get an earbashing in Edinburgh.
