Shame about the delays but the progress is highly impressive, good to see 90mph is being actively pursued as well.

Perhaps it's a hint of where she might be going in the future? :-k
Mr Bunker is involved with both the A1 and Steam Dreams and I'm sure I've seen him down at the MHR........

Well there's no reason why it can't go to the Mid Hants since it meets there hiring agreement that she can only travel to preserved lines via rail and not road.

Of course i imagine I'm not the only one who would love to see her on the NYMR teak set while she's in apple green or for that matter the SVR teak set before they change the colour to experimental blue. And I'm sure for the right price it can happen since nothing on there website says they won't visit preserved lines just that they have to be mainline connected what both the SVR and NYMR are and for that matter a number of lines are. Who knows one day the Bluebell could have her running down there line once they get there mainline connection, anything's possible.

Probably just because it's a nice pic that fitted the page theme. Was it taken by their web-master, perhaps? Yes, it would be nice to see Tornado at the MHR some time. Let's see what the mainline tour programme looks like, first. If there's lots of London-based tours, Ropley might be a good base. If they're mostly "up north", York, Carnforth, ELR or NYMR are more likely...

There will have to be at least one exception to that rule if Tornado is going to the GCR for testing and running-in.

The SVR to change their teak set to experimental blue? Now there's a rumour!

I think the GCR will be a one off or something like that. Here's a quote from there website:
Experimental blue my bum i heard that there going to paint them maroon.

The correct livery to match a loco in BR early 1950's blue would be "plum & spilt milk" which actually is a rather fine livery. The LNER coaches would look very good in it. ;-)

We had a carriage in those colours on the MHR, many years ago. I think it might have been the Bulleid brake.

Fortunately it has been proved over the years that the best livery for a Gresley is varnished teak, paint just doesn't stick to teak very well.

No reason why not. As I've pointed out so long as you can afford it and it works around it's scheduled railtours there is not many reasons why Tornado can't visit your line so long as there is a mainline connection. There is sure to be other conditions but it's something to think about.

And it's not over the axle-weight limit. IIRC an A1 is 21 or maybe even 22 tons. What's the heaviest loco the NNR can accommodate?

Well, "Green Arrow" has run there and I've a feeling that is around the 22T mark.
