I believe she'll be touching down on the GCR around early-mid august. The length of her stay will no doubt be determined by how trials go and how many miles they want to get under their belt. However I know that Cromwell isn't expected back to the GCR until October. (Also, I doubt WCRC would want to unecersarilly load the Scot onto a low loader)

Then I believe she's off to York for trials and to use their paint shop (Although I'm not sure if this info is still in date)

Anyway, congratulations to all involved! =D>

I'm sure Arthur Peppercorn, Freddie Harrison and the Doncaster design team would have been proud.

Even in its grey undercoat it looks breathtaking. The A1 team deserve nothing other than praise for what they have achieved. Congratulations to them for sticking to their guns and completing the project. Well Done.

She does look amazing, but in the video, the cylinder cocks are not open, most probably denoting that it wasn't 60163's first move... most probably taken a few runs afterwards...

Did it really groan as it started to move? Mind you, I'd probably groan having been stationary for so long!

Congratulations to everyone involved. Did it make to local/national/international news? Or are they waiting for 2 August?

    Awesome!

The Duke and now Tornado show what can be done when eveyone pulls together.

    Congratulations to eveyone concerned.

Thanks for the photo - she looks magnificent! Well done to all concerned.

When there is so much doom & gloom on the news in general, this forum is a great place to find somthing to cheer you up - It wasn't that long ago that the first pictures of 70013 were posted, now in the space of barely a week 46115 at Carnforth looking stunning, 34046 resuming trials again after the fitting of its new axle and now Tornado on the move for the first time. With 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" not far off, that makes five exciting post-68 main line debutantes in the offing (well, almost debutantes in the case of (4)6115) which will hopefully help fill the trains in these difficult times.

Yes indeed, well done to Mr Eliott (they may mean Mr Allatt, but that's what I heard), a very good interview, which made me turn up the volume on my way to work this morning. The Radio 4 Today programme is a considerably powerful "influencer" and is listened to by many "movers and shakers" in the UK (I don't count myself amongst this group!) and the Establishment can get very jumpy when "Today" focusses on them. I recently returned from a 4 month detachment in Helmand Province, Afghanistan and some of the higher manderins in Whitehall were very jumpy when we had Radio 4 out there - it all went OK in fact but my point is that if you can get a positive interview on the Today programme then you have done very well. This can only bode well for Tornado.

Fantastic result - in a strange way it looks rather good in just the undercoat especially now they've put the cabside number on - even the web address on the tender looks "right" somehow!
