Are the coast to coast expresses to Scarborough still allowed a path to R.T.C. from N.R. from liverpool lime street after the modernisation upgrade, through edge hill cutting via the C.L.C.?

According to the Tornado tour brochure the 5th October is the anti clockwise one.

When the North Britons were first advertised there were 5 listed 9th Feb, 8th June, 20th July, 17th and 24th Aug.
The 9th Feb was postponed to run in Sept but subsequently was rescheduled to 5th October. With the 17th Aug one rescheduled to 28th September.
With the exception of the 24th Aug and 5th Oct, the rest were from London Kings Cross and the ECML. 24th Aug and 5th Oct starting in the East Midlands, Grantham for the former and Leicester for the latter.
Both the 8th Jun and 24th Aug trips disappeared from later tour listings with no explanation given.
The 5th Oct one now shows Tornado as working Tyne Yard to Leeds and not Doncaster, although the UK railtour page still says Tyne Yard to Doncaster as per original tour detail.

It seems that way. Be interesting to see if we get anything our way in next years tours. Are you attending this years convention?

Before we get to next year's Tour Programme, I see from the latest Pathfinder Newsletter received yesterday (Friday 31st May) that a new Tornado outing has been set for Saturday 14th September. It offers pick-up points reasonably accessible to the "Midlands" part of the East Midlands, calling at Coventry (provisionally 07.30am), then Birmingham International, Tame Bridge Parkway, Stafford and Crewe (dep. 09.45). All of which should be OK from, say, a North Warwickshire home-base.

Basically its Tornado on at Carnforth for Shap and the Carlisle/ Upperby Avoider, then on to a two-hour stop at Appleby. Somewhat disappointingly, Tornado comes off at Hellifield on the southbound leg, so just under 139 Tornado miles (and thus less than either of the two main North Briton permutations); and, with no Wilpshire, strictly a "two-summits" outing.

This doesn't yet appear on the A1SLT website "Diary" section (which does include details of other Pathfinder/ non-A1SLT promoted tours), so I assume its only just been released.

Just one other thought. As far as coverage of the East Midlands goes, don't the Peterborough calls made by the two KGX-originating North Britons count as providing a service to an East Midlands catchment area? My plans visualise using this as a rail-head (albeit 62 miles distant) from my West Northamptonshire base for, most probably, the 28th September outing.

Peterborough doesn't know if it's in East Anglia or the East Midlands: Anglia or Central TV region? I've always said it was in East Anglia (just) myself. but had connections to the Midland and Great Northern lines both independently and as a Joint. Not forgetting the Great Eastern, LNWR....

I've always thought of Peterborough only as 'that place on the main line 70 miles north of London'.

Or, the Middle of Nowhere, or The Back of Beyond, depending on where you are in the vicinity of Peterborough.
