To pick out how good the paint is* and ignore the magnificent achievment of actually building the loco. ](*,)

Great to see so many people came out to see her. Just a shame that if everyone just gave 0ne pound to see her. The A1 group could of paid off a big chunk of their out standing money they owe.

Looks to me a big operurnerty missing. Mabe the group should have also put out collecting buckets at some Railway stations like Eastleigh and Overton.

Why not put the web address on the support coach at the end most likely to be nearest the tender?

    Regards,

I don't know where the Trust would get the man-power? Before the march of elf and safety and the risk assessment culture, there was always a freely available and always willing pool of grunts to do just this sort of thing on weekends - the Scouts! I know as I was one. I remember going out on working parties to clear the p-way for a proposed extension of a heritage line (bizarrely I forget which one it was now). Running out to the site was done standing in old coal wagons! \:D/

Maybe the A1 group should get some of those magnetic advertising boards made up and stick them on the coach nearest to the loco.

lol it was a tongue in cheek suggestion guys, (relating to my earlier opinion that the grey livery should have been kept). If it *has* to be proper green, then given how it upsets people having a diseasel at the rear, you can imagine the uproar at plastering anything non-authentic on the actual rolling stock! [-X

Stick aforementioned magnetic advertisements to said diesel on the rear. If it's ugly anyway, can it get any worse? #-o

On early excursions you may also exchange handbags at dawn between trespassers and others...

Well the trust could do with listianing to those that offer thier services then? I have tried several times to volunteer for the trust in either a support crew or steward role. The only person who seemed to bother answering emails was Mark. I've now come to the conclusion that its not worth bothering, especially as I found out another volunteer I know who has vast experience also got a simillar response.

Tornado is now on her way back up north - and running about 35 minutes ahead of schedule.

Luckily, I saw a message to this effect in the Main Line section of the NatPres Forum so was able to rush down to Offord Crossing and grab a couple of shots. I was just in time! Didn't even have time to set the camera properly, but the shots are acceptable, I think. If anyone is interested to see them, they're here :

This, as usual, is the 'Stop Press!' collection for new pictures. They will be there for a couple of weeks or so, then I shall move them on to the 'Main Line Steam' collection which is here :

Hope that they are of interest.

I have also been holding on to see if they respond. I can only assume Greame Bunker is overloaded with things to do at the moment and simply doesn't have the time to respond. I heard they were after more support crew, so to not respond would make no sense.

I sent one to Greame, didn't hear anything so decieded to see if they wanted any carriage stewards, at the time they did, so instead of becoming support crew I became carriage steward.

We are all volunteers running the Trust and each put many hours a day into the project. At the moment with our first railtours, the high level of press interest and the naming by Priince Charles on Thursday we are all struggling to keep up and do our day jobs that give us the ability to give our spare time to the Trust. We are very keen to have on-board volunteers who are skilled, reliable and self managing, especially in the area of fundraising. If I could find them I would have someone with recruitment leaflets and buckets on every station that Tornado passes. So come on guys, send your details through to me at mark.allatt@a1steam.com stating how and where you can help and I will be back in touch - after Thursday!
