    Hi all,

I'm curious to know what editing software people use.

I've been using Windows Live Movie Maker for the last couple of video's I've done but it now doesn't allow me to blend in 2 seperate scenes smoothly (I can't find a fading in/out option and so forth on it now since I've moved over to Windows 7) and I'm getting frustrated with it.

What do other people use and are there any good free one's out there? I'd prefer not to pay for anything unless I really have to as I don't really use it enough but if required, I'd be prepared to spend somewhere in the region of up to £50 ish or so.

Thanks for any help in advance,

    Ian

Over the years I have found Coral Video Studio to work best for myself. lasy years addition did have a backwards step in DVD burning, but this has been addressed in the latist version.

Tried Vagas, actualy have the latist version, but I can't seem to get on with how it works, based on tape real.

Pinnicle is ok, but the problem is even when you but the so called unlimitted version, you stil don't get everything and to enable all the trasnitions etc will set you back at least the same price again.

If you are thinking of buying one, I woudl recooomend you down load a copy of their relevent websites, as you can use all of them on a triel period, around 2 weeks to 2 months depending on which way the wind is blowing (promotion at the time).

Oh, if you have low end spec machine and plan on editing HD, the coral or video directory are probably you best bet as they have proxy file options, make a lower resalution copy of the file for editing and users the hd for the final cut.

I've just looked at WLMM & if you click on animations on the top left, you get an option for transitions which I think you can enter for any scene change. You have several choices of transition.

My output is mainly home grown documentaries and as such I need to add a voice-over and some music where required. I find Adobe premier elements 10 an excellent tool and well worth the money. It's never crashed on me once. I've just finished a programme on the Queen Mary 2 that has over 200 picture edits and every one of them is as clean as a whistle. You get what you pay for and I'm well happy.

I use Adobe premiere elements 10, perfectly good for editing together various separate VT's and audio tracks. Easy to use (which is why I relate to it well!!)

When shopping for the best video editing software, Most of them, need to find an application that offers a variety of useful editing tools, compatibility with many file formats, an easy-to-use interface and strong support options. Generally, Video editing software is application software which handles the post-production video editing of digital video sequences on a computer non-linear editing system.
