West Coast Legends

Hi all,
I apologise for this being very short notice but this was also very short notice for us at the railway.
Sunday 15th August brings together two West Coast Mainline legends, only at the Midland Railway Butterley.
1938 built Princess Coronation class 'Pacific' 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, carrying LMS Wartime Black, will be working alongside 1959 built English Electric Type 4 (Class 40) D212 Aureol, carrying BR Green with small warning panels.
It is thought that this will be the first time that these pair have passed eachother working trains since their haydays on the British Railways West Coast Mainline, albeit with the 'Duchess' wearing a BR green paint scheme. This will also be the only time for the forseeable future that these pair of West Coast veterans will meet, which makes it a very unique event.
A timetable will be provided shortly.

Looking at the MRB website I note that it is also the Paddington Bear weekend.

 

Hi all,
Unfortunately D212 will not be working any public trains during this coming Sunday, however there will still be plenty of photographic opportunities, with her working a mixed goods in the morning and a private charter in the afternoon.
6233 will be working passenger trains all day, working in top and tail formation with 45133 due to the 'Duchess' being unable to run round at Riddings.
