I believe that 4 lamps are only borne when the Monarch is on board - 3 lamps for all other members of the Royal Family.

In fairly dismal weather 70000 is seen passing Fairburn Ings. Given the occasion I thought it was worth the effort.

I keep seeing references to the white roof being something applied to royal locomotives, specifically. I don't think that's quite right, is it? IIRC, Stratford shed often painted cab roofs white on passenger locos. It's a tradition started in GER days. Can someone with a better knowledge of GER and Stratford history explain, please?

I wonder if the folks at crewe shall be able to keep the white roof for the West Somerset Gala.

Might be okay for out in mike1522 land to help keep the cab temperature down, but paint it back to black for me, just personal preference.

From the photo's on the WSR unofficial site of 70000 leaving Crew this morning it is still white. So hopefully it will still be when she arrives at the WSR in a couple of hours.

  12. Still white-ish (I think) passing Worle...

I've just seen a picture on the WSR website showing Britannia undergoing a FTR and she now has a Green cab roof.

Something called "rain" is it? Something we haven't seen for months until now. Emphasised by the hosepipe ban we now have.
Yet the people up "Narth" on here are talking about overflowing reservoirs!

That's a disappointment, was looking foward to seeing her at the weekend with the white roof, something a bit different to 70013.

Does anyone know if she is taking water when she stops at Lichfield? Not shown as a water stop but a bit long for an ordinary stop

Lichfield outward and Atherstone return is pretty standard for this path.
