Excuse my ignorance but wouldn't it be possible to replace the flangeless driver with a new wheelset?

Wasn't Evening Star dragged on the main line recently? Between the Network Rail Sidings/Depot and NRM great hall when it returned from Swindon. I'd imagine it'd have had to negotiate plenty of point work between these locations.

But, to quote HMRI at the recent HRA safety seminar, 'Just because there haven't been any accident, or fatalities doesn't make it safe.' (or words to that effect.)
It's hard to argue against that. I do agree that common sense should prevail, though. Whether that is simply being laid back, I'll leave you to argue about!

On the subject of chains over doorways, Shipley Glen tramway were told to remove them by HMRI as there was a danger of someone not realising they were there and tripping over them when getting out. Cableways (which Shipley Glen is) now come under the Mines Inspectorate (yes!) and they have told them to fit chains to the doorways!

Fair enough. I'm not questioning it, I was just adding to the recent discussion on tender prices with a source I read by chance. I'm not an engineer or metal trader, so I have no personal knowledge for or against the figure quoted. I certainly don't wish to challenge or criticise the A1 Trust or anyone else.

    Anyways, back on topic...

All is not lost all i have heard and read is that only individuals have stated a willingness to buy the loco if they only had the money, but if a group was formed to restore the loco that would ease the cost from one single place and possibly make it more desirable to restore the loco to the general public if it is a group. On the main line front the problem lies with the center flangeless driving wheel set fouling with NR crossing but this could be modified to have an inside tyer to miss the crossings check rails. I not sure what the asking price for her as is? but it will be at least 500,000 to restore her but if a agreement could be meat with the 72010 group or the owner of 92134 for a tender the batch building of them could half the cost of making one. And with the modern medium of Facebook a restoration group could be set up and by giving the loco a name like mid afternoon star or something that symbolizes that it was the last but one before evening star which would further improve the view of the restoration in the public domain.
    thanks
    Patrick

So 92207 is Morning Star, 92220 is Evening Star and now 92219 is Afternoon Star? wow loads of stars. What shall we call 92240 at the Bluebell - Elevenses Star or just Stars in your Eyes ?

The historical choices are North, Morning, Evening, Dog, Polar, Red, Load/Lode, Rising, Bright, Shooting and Western. Morning, Evening and Lode are taken, and North is hardly appropriate for the Bluebell. The dog star is Sirius, which is a blue/white star, so that would be the logical choice for the Bluebell line...

Wasn't it the case that 92220, 70021 and 70023 were all named after the same thing :D

70023 was named after a Roman god, as was 70024. So no.

Venus, the brightest star in the sky. First star visible in the evening and the last star visible in the morning.

It's a planet, not a star. Although it is currently visible in the evening and will pass in front of the sun at the beginning of June. (won't happen again for 105 years)

Suppose 'Death Star '* might appeal to a younger audience especially if they fit a particularly wheezy airpump....
(*though technically its a space station, not a star...)

OK, today's attempt to make us all feel antiquated:
you do realise you probably need to be over 40 to remember that film when it came out, so maybe not that much younger an audience...
