Has 46115's mainline ticket expired then?

46115 ran its first light engine move to Hellifield on 20/06/2008 and completed the full test circle on 11 July 2008. Assuming its boiler certificate started from the first move in June 2008 then there is still 2 years of certification left.

Isn't the requirement for the boiler to have an out of frames exam at least every 7 years?

Thought we were told that the Scot had an intermediate/partial retube a couple of years ago to extend the ticket to 2018. Pretty sure this can be done after 5 years to extend ticket for a further 5 if the boiler is sound enough.

My understanding for mainline running, its one 7 year ticket or as suggested an intermediate overhaul before then, allows for an extension passed the 7 year mark.

I'm not sure as to what kind of work equates to how much of an extension hence my question.

    Any elaboration greatly received.

    Thanks

If a contract has been signed then I would assume so. What will be interesting to see is just how quickly WCRC resume 'normal' operations and just how much business they may have permanently lost this time around.

Checked RTT and there's no indication of a steam start out of Crewe at the moment. There's also two return paths over the Cumbrian Coast and a DBC return down on the WCML with a loco swap at Crewe. So, nothing concrete yet !

    Usual WCME Path http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U50572/2016/04/02/advanced

    Return down the coast http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U50635/2016/04/02/advanced

DBC return up the WCML with possible loco swap at Crewe ? http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U50692/2016/04/02/advanced

Since we have already learned that rtt times are only the provision plan and like last Saturday's Scot, may not be finalised until the day before, I wouldn't place to much stead on those times.

All we know is that the standard path out of London is usually soon after 7 am with a return around 10.30 pm. What happens in between is definitely conjecture as RalphW says. However if it is a DBC operation because the contract has been agreed then there may be alternatives available.

I think what Al means is that you can't go around the coast with steam on/off at Crewe, Steve.

Yes. Just that. It works from Carnforth only and even then the late London arrival leaves little room for error!
