All very true except that brochures are now much clearer about what is not permitted and the possibility you will be removed from the train at the next available stop is perhaps a disincentive?

A ban on window hangers? This lot clearly have not heard about it. What is more, it was only in July. I wouldn't want to be a steward trying to tell this lot to get their heads in!! If the ORR really are, and I have my doubts, looking carefully at window hanging, they how on earth can they ignore this. In reality the ORR have more important things on their plate, I would suggest.

DBS aren't being watched like hawks, unlike WCR. If the O.R.R, are going to start clamping down on window hanging, they should be taking a look at DBS run charters or even First Great Western, passenger services, where windows are still operational. I had a trip from Liskeard to Penzance recently, and not once was I told to keep my head in. Yesterday's CME, had plenty of window hanging and hopefully no one from the O.R.R, witnessed it !

I travelled May 30th RTC and July 2nd with WCR and failed to see words telling me detail suggesting this as above - "brochures are now much clearer about what is not permitted and the possibility you will be removed from the train at the next available stop is perhaps a disincentive?". But did see "Please do not lean out of windows"

Good one David, almost an aerial, "Drone's-eye view" view of the train there, quite spectacular. Also, you certainly captured the grandeur of the Lune Gorge in the evening light. Many thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Alan

After the disappointing climb of Wilpshire, the Duchess put in a solid run over the S&C and a smoky return up Shap !

Sorry to go off track again but just had a look at the original letter that came with my tickets for the Fellsman on the 10th of June that under "Safety Information" read thus . It is vital that all doors and windows are kept free from obstructions and it is a requirement under the terms of our operating licence that no passenger leans out of an open window !

Noted. But my point is this. Will it stop it. Answer NO! There are just too many people who do it. The evidence is on You Tube for all, including the ORR, to see. That's reality.

Really, wouldnt it be much better to stop harking on about this. Isnt it just drawing attention to a problem which maybe is not there? It wasnt a problem from after the David Ward days up to Wootton Bassett and I don't really see that it needs to be in the future, after the "ORR spotlight" has been reduced/turned off.

Fair point but will the spotlight be really turned off after clowns like the one on Sat at Edge hill in the eyes of ORR . I doubt it !

Many thanks Alan, much appreciated as ever. Thankfully the weather improved sufficiently during the afternoon to make the shot possible.

Thanks Ralph. Always nice to get a bit of a walk in and see steam from up high.

Many thanks Chris - the sun's game of hide and seek caused some anxious moments but it all came good in the end. Thankful for a bit of clag too but a shame it wasn't the full maroon rake of 2 weeks ago.
