According to UK Steam The 26/07/11 Tour Has Been Cancelled. Can Anyone Verify This?

 

It's on RTC's website still on the Welsh Mountaineer page, but not when you click Book Online.

 

The Welsh Mountaineer scheduled for 26 July is cancelled due to "insufficient interest".

 

No offence, but at £79 it is a tad on the expensive side especially when there are tours like The Scarborough's for £59 and The North Wales Coast for £65 The CME is £79 and you get both Shap and the S&C included for that. Realise the reason it's done is because there is a weight limit, but for this tour to succeed the only way would be to have a 4/5 coach set do 2/3 trips from Llandudno Town to Ffestiniog similar to the Jacobite/Cambrian set up. Whether Llandudno Junction is upto being able to have a loco overnight for a number of nights though I don't though.

 

Does anyone know if 9 August version is still operating - UK steam suggest yes (although the timings are for Wednesday (sic) 9 August).

 

I have received my tickets for next week's trip. Like last year, the first one was cancelled, but later ones run because they include passengers from the 7 day Snowdonia and Northern Fells holidays (also RTC).

 

As Malc says this one is definitely operating. Booked loco is 48151 according to the letter from RTC that came with the tickets.

Happen to be camping at Beddgelert so hope to hop over and see steam on the Conwy Valley line for the first time since I was about 2 years old !!
