The full documentary on building the A1, from start to finish will be transmited on BBC 4, Thursday 16th of October at 8pm.
It will feature action from the GCR.

 

Thanks for the heads up Bill, that,s gone straight into the diary . Apparently their are going to be several steam related programmes coming up on BBC4 this autumn .

Not only is it a great echievment to the trust and its members but well done to the Fitters / erectors that put it together. For it to run so well out of the box so to speak is a real triumph

Has anyone seen Tornado this week? IIRC she was supposed to be running a few more test trains prior to the big launch for the donors on Sunday. Has she been allowed to run faster than 25 mph yet?

Great pictures! Great day! Well worth the investment and years of waiting.

I went to the GCR today to have a dose of Tornado on it's first day in service for the public. Impressive beast and you can sense the power within.
Weather was naff but managed to get some photos of the day which are now on my fotopic site.

When they're good and ready. Once all the shake-down trails are complete and there's little chance the cladding will need to come off.

 

Is anyone aware of anything teething problems that have occured?

Certainly seems to have gone incredibly smoothly since the first steaming!!!
