Its a shame that the GB isnt West Coast ,DB, and LSL working together, then you could have had an A1, A2, A3, and A4 each working a leg.

There's been quite a few folk on this thread that really ought to take a good look at themselves in a mirror over how they've treated @martin1656 - you should be damned ashamed of yourselves.

    You know who you are.

Just checking if that also applies to the way in which some people have treated some the A1 Trust senior people on this same thread? Or does that not apply because it doesn’t suit the narrative?

Thank you for your kind words, Yes its had a marked effect on me, its badly effected my own mental health, much of it has been to be frank, unwarranted, when a Moderator makes a comment that he can't have me on Ignore, that was a step too far, I expected more from the moderation team, higher standards for one, when someone I thought of as being a friend says to stop digging, over what I thought was common sense, , then, that saddens me, For the record, The point I was making, was that If Ian Riley was responsible for Tornado whilst it was on hire to West coast, and it needed major attension, that he might prefer to do it at his works, where he has the machinery and facilities, Thats all, but some took it as being something else totally. In my posts i never play the man, but that did not stop others, from doing just that, At times, I would post, and people would pile in, I have kept screenshots of it, just to show i'm not over reacting if there were another web site as good as nat pres, i would have gone by now,

I'm guessing that's a reference to me. I considered the 'stop digging' was a bit of friendly advice. I'm sorry if it upset you, I apologise.
I've said it before...........you're welcome on here Martin and you have a right to have your say. Don't give in.

So is Tornado being gently warmed through for a trip towards the coast?

"No" would be the short answer
...and was still sat cold in Coleham depot at silly o'clock this morning as I called by enroute to work.

The paths suggest early hours of tomorrow is the first proper run out, early hours of this morning would only have been a jaunt around the triangle.

Assume it will be partnered by an ETCS fitted 37 then? Both as a chaperone in case the ETCS doesn’t work, and to save burning mid Wales to the ground?

If I don't fall asleep before hand, we might find out later.

I assume the reason for a night possession when there's no other traffic is to ensure if it vanishes off the computer screen the whole network doesn't shut down to crawl until the missing train is found (like I believe happened in the early days when the service trains occasionally vanished). In the yard it has a type 3 at the other end of the support coach, but that doesn't necessarily mean to say it'll be going for the ride - but then it'll make the return working a lot easier assuming the support coach is being taken as it'll mean they can just head back without needing to reach somewhere with a loop to run around.

There's a path to do handbrake turns around the triangle at silly o'clock tomorrow morning after the return, so you never know - it might be going in reverse tomorrow night.

    All speculation and guesses :)

On that subject, it's very dry out there. We've had a heath fire in the wilds of Leicestershire (probably kids, but still). Could be a trying summer

Indeed, my post was in support of yours ISWIM - it's not just "looks like it might catch fire", it actually has.

Mind you, this week's learning point, aggregate can be damaged by fire (if stuff burns over it it can get contaminated)

It rolled out of the depot over half an hour after booked time, then sat on the shunt neck until the Swansea had passed - meaning it was again over half an hour after booked before it left the junction onto the branch. It consisted of loco and support coach, no yellow canary purring behind.

RTT shows it arrived back about 15 before booked this morning and didn't make use of the path around the triangle. The view enroute to work this morning showed it parked up alongside the depot again, back how it was originally.

I was more interested in crashing into bed for a few hours before the alarm went off again than reviewing footage after departure, but hopefully got some atmospheric video of it shunting out onto the main line to edit together in due course.

I'd heard third hand rumour the signalling runs are only going as far as Newtown, which wouldn't be incompatible with other engineering works taking place further on around Talerddig. In the absence of proper information it's all just speculation and guesses.

All we really know is it left Sutton Bridge at 00:36 and RTT reports it arriving back basically four hours later. Someone else I know followed it out of town until it stopped near Hanwood, and then they went home to their bed as well. Normal service trains in 2 hours are timetabled to get from Shrewsbury to Tywyn, but who knows what the test plan was/is. They could have sat having tea and biscuits for an hour somewhere (Hanwood?), or could have gone to Mach and back

Presumably they went as far as somewhere with a crossover loop so the loco could run around rather than needing to propel the support coach all the way back ....or did the Type 3 that fired up shortly before the train departed but was then left in the yard ticking over go down the line behind them to couple up and drag it all back later on? Who knows, RTT doesn't show any other movements out of the depot past signal 34 between the West Coast departure and the West Coast return - but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

If I've got shots sufficient for a departure sequence then I can possibly consider setting the alarm an hour or so earlier than normal and see if I can capture the return before I head off to work next week as well.
