    If the engine horsepower is 2750 this converts to 2022 kW but there will be losses in the generator/alternator. at 95% efficiency the output decreases to approx. 1900 kW

    I suspect that the way a diesel loco is 'set up' in terms of rating/cooling/how the electrics works etc probably isnt ideal for the sort of 'steady state' work that a 'generator set' is optimised for
