Question for this Yellow Stripes thread….

Does anyone know if the Midland style of Locomotive lamp recieved the yellow stripe down the side of them too? I have previously seen a picture in preservation of a lamp like this but wondered if it was actually done?

There are also restrictions on Special Traffic Notices for steam traction saying that locomotives should not stand (unless in an emergency) in a confined space like a tunnel or overbridge where there is OHLE or any critical OHLE equipment like a neutral section, insulated joint or OHLE support or indicator.
There have been a few flashovers, one being 60009 in Primrose Hill tunnel which led to No.9 being impounded at Bounds Green for a few weeks.

OHLE safety is the reason why rolling stock for may years had an orange stripe at cant rail level. Basically don't go past here and this briefed to as many staff as possible.

    Cheers, Neil

The incident with No9 was this the incident that Railtrack described as a ‘Near Flashover’?
Can’t remember who it was but the question was put to who described it as that responded to Railtrack with ‘Well was it a Flashover or not? It’s a bit like saying someone’s slightly pregnant’

The LMS 4fS with the longer chimney had a blue spot above the number ,this was not to work on the LNER. It slightly amused me as there were several at 35C (ex 16B)Peterborough Spital ,.Although I doubt if the shed had any workings over LNER lines The western region WD 2-8-0 s were fitted with Swindon top feed clacks that made them taller .They were also banned from the LNER, except the GCR. In a big loco' reshuffle in the late fifties /early 60s ,several were relocated to 18B Westhouses. I can also remember reading about test being carried out at Liverpool street station in early electrification days ,I think it was a with a B1 ,the blower was wound full on ,and the loco was allowed to blow off for some time ,no problems were encountered. I'm attaching a photo of 45596 at 9B Stockport that I took on 10//9/1967.I often wonder if this was the same chimney as fitted to 45742 Connaught, that was a 3B Bushbury engine that worked the Wolverhampton/ Birmingham to Euston trains, or a completely different one.
