That answers that question then! It's funny that I did hear 46233 mentioned in relation to the now abandoned LMS Gala.................... Oh well, maybe another time?

Not likely anytime soon, the NNR are currently looking at removing the boiler from their highly polished turd for major firebox repairs.

I doubt if Steam Dreams will be pleased either, as 61306 was to be the principal loco for much of their late winter/early spring programme.

They've moved the gala now to the 13th-15th of February. Rather annoying for me personally as I was planning on going on the Saturday but got no chance of the wife letting me go on Valentine's Day so Sunday it is. also will this affect the belle and rat that are running on the14th?

Interesting. 13-15 Feb does seem an odd choice, because of running the Belle for Valentine diners. It's not impossible, though. There will need to be a bit of a run-down of services in the late afternoon, at least, to allow the evening locos to be prepared in the yard and for the catering teams to get everything ready on the RAT and Belle sets, but 2 gala trains could keep running until about 18:30. The Belle is pre-booked seats only, of course, and RAT passengers will need different tickets, but perhaps a special deal could be offered on a Gala ticket + RAT?

Well that weekend rules out Mayflower even if she isn't being pulled, given she's booked for mainline work that weekend, as are a lot of the other mainline regulars

Valentines weekend is a non-starter for me. Cannot think this will do well with the married male public or the railways volunteers or visiting locomotive's support crews either..

Likewise. Local model railway show that weekend that I'll be helping to set up on the Friday, and operating a layout on the Saturday. At least it no longer clashes with ELR or Churnet Valley galas.

I heard yesterday that the gala date was going to change. I don't understand why they couldn't keep 20th to 22nd weekend after they put the date on the web site. I know a few people that won't be able to attend the new dates. I wonder if the dates will change again being it's Valentines weekend?

I do find it rather odd they have moved it to Valentines weekend but looking at the Heritage Railway special events calendar for next year they don't really have much choice as some railways are already holding Galas in January, February and March. Could be a bad move in respect of visitor numbers. Perhaps it might move again?

Brilliant news, booked accommodation yesterday, will incur fees to change, what's the chance of it changing again ??

Same here. I've booked holiday from work on the strength of seeing what was put on the web site last week.

should this now be called a winter gala as spring starts on 20th march, surely holding it over the easter weekend
3-6 april would be better if it doesn't clash with any other galas.

No "Belles" until April, as our new BG car won't be ready till then....any Valentine's train will thus be a Countryman production, as are the Murder Mystery trains. I'm working 7/8th Feb so either weekend is OK with me - and I am male and married!

I really don't get what all the fuss about Valentines is all about........... you take your good lady out for an EVENING meal, so plenty of time during the day to "play" trains, just as long as you've remembered to book the restaurant table at her favourite place............. after all, aren't relationships about "give & take?....... ;)

So, they've cocked it up with the dates by not realising "competing" Rly's are doing the same re SSS IV!

But are they also competing for loco's?..............
