Gosh, they (the fact that it is a they at the moment is in itself an achievement) even have their own website, courtesy of Wix, looks great...

I think these few passages sums it up really:

For a while, the group had its eyes on an industrial tank engine [looking back in the Facebook history looks like it was Olwen]… but the engine in question is not for sale…so now the group is focussing on acquiring funds so as to be ready to make a realistic offer when one comes along!

The Tank Engine Preservation Group is aimed at preserving some Tank Engines...

£38.60 in one month from only one of the owners/ first member
[so one of the founding members hasn't donated any money?]

Well it's nice to see Stuart has listened to at least some of the advice - start off with something smaller, pity he couldn't follow the rest - join an established group to gain experience... The address given is Bridgend. A quick look on Google maps shows that within an hour's drive is the Gwili, Dean Forest, the P&B, and if you want something a little different the Brecon Mountain railway as well, all of which I'm sure have established loco owning groups for small engines...

Whew, thank good ness for that, it is always my primary concern when looking at new groups starting up...
I was only thinking the other day it's coming up to Christmas, we must be due something like this, Alf has been rececently, MVR has also had a go, so I suppose it is Stuart's turn (assuming there is no surprise presence of sn!#lb*@ch...)

    classic..

Is that £38.60 the left overs from the funds to buy that 28xx ?

    1.png

So Santa's going to buy them a new Hornby coach this Christmas then...
(and in New Year there will be a split in the group because one side wants to play with the coach and the other see's it as a mis-use of funds as it's not a tank engine).
It will all then go quiet before bedtime, or when the coach is dropped on the floor and parents have to sort it out. The coach will be auctioned on ebay at Easter once schools out.

I wonder if that Barclay will need a new "all copper boiler" and a scrap LMS tender, which could be loaned from the J39 new build group, named after someone's dad, using L1 parts (which are interchangeable between the southern L1 and the LNER L1 you know).

to be fair.. an Andrew Barclay is probably more achieveable... but then wasn't there a group "fighting for preservation" once too ?

I wonder if the Charity Commissioners are aware that they have become an incorporated charity? I wonder whose articles have been cribbed? I wonder how long it will last? Too much wondering on my part; back to reality.

Perhaps they'll crib the WRSA's model of democracy too then? All the would be hirers must be rushing to get in the queue. I'll just check how she'll perform up the banks on the KWVR/NYMR/CVR ;)

Just sent them a nice email through their website suggesting they join one of 4 other preservation societies within about an hour of their published address, in the unlikely event I get a reply, I shall post it up :)

They'll get mine tomorrow so that's OK then. Do I get a cab ride I wonder?

  14. It's the BDLPG all over again. Again. Again. Again. Again...

Where are they going to run their phantom tank engine? Luton, Folkestone or the Meon Valley?

I wonder if there's provision in the constitution for distribution of funds should the group/society cease or be dissolved?

Can we just close this thread, posting on here bitching about someone who isn't likley to respond just has the air of bullying and sniggering at someone behind their back.

Yes its never going to happen, we all know that and possibly the creater has some reason why they have to keep doing such things, but these threads are not showing the posters in a very good light.
