I have always kind of assumed that the most fanciful new build proposal would steam long before 7027.... sadly.

I was told this evening that the plan is to move 60532 to Didcot early next year, where it will go on static display for a short period.

There are no plans to carry out any work on the A2 there.

Perhaps there could be a special event (like the BR Blue Gala) with 60163 & 61306 also attending? They will all be in the same Green livery by then........

So, why didn't you say that in your original statement as opposed to waiting a few hours before quantifying it?....... saving a lot of froth on here?.....

The only reason it would go to Didcot would be to do with the end of the agreement with Barrow Hill....... but I still don't "buy it" unless some one directly in the know comes on here and says what is what.....

Possibly because people would not believe it, as you have proven yourself. And people wonder why many cannot be bothered to post on here - damned if you do or don't!

The conversation I had with a Didcot worker indicated that 60532 has to leave Barrow Hill in the near future to make way for another exhibit, which is thought to be an LMS locomotive.

He also said that 6023 should leave Didcot in March and go to Tyseley. It's currently having some springs replaced.

According to the last GW Echo the target for 6023 to go mainline is the Great Britain in April , althought it has not yet been offered to anyone for mainline running.

If that's so then perhaps the RTC should be asked why they are promising it on day 1 of GB VIII although the late April date does fit in with the above timing.

I have been told that the plan is for 6023 to go to Tyseley from where it will probably do an evening loaded test run to Leicester and back.

That's good news as I guess it may also be an opportunity for the engineers to give her the once over and add a little bit of Tyseley magic.

Back with Blue Peter, there is a lovely image of her on the Icons of Steam home page at:

Didcot have a bit of a history for having 60532 on loan for display. I think it must remind them just what a proper engine should be!

Some lovely Bob Green photos on those 2 sites.

So, sifting through the above posts, it looks like Blue Peter needs to move from Barrow Hill a bit before LNWR Crewe is ready to receive her, and so will "stop over" at Didcot. Sounds like a good arrangement. In fact, 532 has visited Didcot several times in the past. IIRC, the first time I saw her was at Didcot during GWR 150 year, alongside the CFN de Glehn 4-6-0 compound (and various Swindon products)

Since neither side has made any official pronouncement re 60532 going to Didcot , I would approach with a degree of caution

Agreed. I'm at a loss to how Steamage has concluded that '532 will move via Didcot in the absence on any announcement to that fact.

Nat Pres gossip is obviously the 21st Century equivalent of the platform end gossip of (some of) our youth. Some true, most not!
