I suspect Bertie had some of Rebecca's Daughters in mind when he made his comment. They were very effective in dealing with people found to be ripping off decent citizens .:D

According to Companies House, the Chairman and Treasurer listed in the earlier post are no longer Directors - indeed, it appears the Company has no Directors currently listed, nor a Company Secretary (the later is no longer a requirement under the Companies Act 2006 but may well be under the Company's own Articles, given the age of the Company).

It isn't clear from the information I can view, but I presume that the TVR Company is a subsidiary of the a Teifi Valley Society (the largest shareholder is listed in the "Smith, John" format as "Valley, Teifi"!)? This appears to be a Charity but not a Company.

Chair Ray Sanderson, Liz Perry and Richard Nicholl resigned in July and Cath George resigned for health reasons. These resignations were reported to Companies House by Liz in October. Ray was reinstated as Chair and sole director, he co-opted Michael R Martin in July or August, and David Morgan and Dearing were appointed at the SGM in September. None of these appointments have been reported to Companies House.

Recently Ray and Michael have resigned, David Morgan has instead become a Trustee of the Society, and Dearing has disappeared. So the Company has no directors at the moment.

Regarding Dearing, waiting to see what the Police do if anything. Lots of accusations and speculation going on. Will let you know when I find out.

According to 'Railway World' Ivor McFadzean and Chris Shanks are new Trustees and are also Directors and Ray Sanderson and Mr Dearing have departed. Mr Dearings contract has been delared null and void 'by mutual consent'.

Yes, lots of inaccuracies in the press articles I've seen. The true facts are as in my posting above. Neither McFadzean or Shanks are directors.

Dearing did not leave "by mutual consent", he had the full support of all the new directors and trustees , but disappeared sometime in October before his bankruptcy was announced.

No news from the police yet.

    Thanks Peter.

Did you attach the wrong link? This one is to Dearing's bankruptcy notice.

    OK, found the info thanks.

As you say Nikki Cox and Joyce Gooding have been recently reported to Companies House as Director and Company Secretary respectively.

No visible signs of any clearance works or renovation works as yet, but the weather has been foul.

McFadzean or Dave James were quoted in some magazines as stating that their first action was to return the “land train”, but it's actually still there.

Santa Specials were run on the 7.25” miniature line. A bad start on Friday 19/12 when the guest steam engine was too heavy for the track causing a derailment requiring emergency track repairs, but seemingly quite successful afterwards.

The police seem to be of the opinion that no crime occurred on the track as Dearing had the full permission of the Sole Director to do whatever he wanted.

I will be setting up a website telling the full story in due course.

I've read in one of this months journals that they hope to have some of the track relaid and in use by this May. Can't see that timetable with lack of volunteers and skilled help I'm afraid.

Maybe the Gwili should take over the TVR and institute a grand change of gauge junction at Pencader!! (Okay - huge lottery win needed ....) ;)

I live on the wrong side of the country to help out physically, but would love to help any way I can.
Has the directorship been stabilized so this can't happen again?

There is a serious point arising out of my previous 'joke' posting.
If there really are not enough people to resurrect the TVR, maybe what volunteers there are might consider transferring to Bronwydd, and the TVR could sell its stock to other NG railways? Maybe, there's just not enough volunteer support and commercial viability for 2 railways in the area...?
    (retires under hard hat!)

Difficult question and you could certainly argue this. What has been proved in South Wales is that it is a combination of volunteers and money that is required. Gwili and P and B have had some success in attracting grants from local authotities and in the absence of wealthy benefactors this is the best way to develop the railway offerings in South Wales. If you look at the Teifi, Gwili, P and B, all started without much in the way of infrastructure and all had to undertake extensions over 30 years to get where they are today.

In South Wales we have the Gwili, P and B and Brecon Mountain (aside from Teifi). There is a long list of failed schemes and a couple of aspirational ones (eg Garw). Considering the history of railways in South Wales you could argue this isn't enough, considering the population base and wealth available you could argue that what we have is more than enough and the focus should be on these.

I do wish all at the Teifi well and hope they get back on their feet but the recent reports in the mags haven't been good.

    Regards

    Matt

Has been known as "pub talk" but will probably require change to LRO or new TWO due to difference in gauge. Not 100% sure on this point though.

Well think how much money we would save not having to repair the 5 bridges between Danycoed and Llanpumsaint...
