I have just been looking through my loco photo collection and remembered some information I was looking for the last time I was at the ELR.

MSC32 Gothenburg / Thomas Tank Engine ELR (From my research into the loco I believe these are the same loco) was on a train in May, but not in steam and I recalled one of the guards told me in october its a shame she wasnt pulling the loco instead being pushed by the other loco as she had failed (Sapper if I recall correctly was pushing).

I was wondering what the failure is? I know her current livery will most likely not be loved by most preservationists, and im personally undecided but one thing she has done, is captured the imagination of my 4 year old son who is now loving anything steam related and reignited my interest from my childhood.

MSC32 Gothenburg/Thomas is currently undergoing a 10 yearly overhaul at Baron Street, Bury and will be ready for use again in early 2015. The 10 yearly was not due for around another 4 years but due to serious damage sustained at another railway whilst out on hire as Thomas it was decided to undertake a full inspection and the 10 yearly option was the most economical.

I have fond memories of it when it made its furthest journey north (I assume) to Aviemore for a week. I spent most of its time on the Strathspey firing it and found it a rather nice little engine. It wasn't particularly happy about 15mph and the trips to Boat of Garten to coal it took some time but it pottered around Aviemore quite happily with its little Thomas train for a week.

Thank you for the information, I find it fascinating to get information like this, as much of it is not published around the web. I am an avid reader of anything railway related loving David Heys Site with its many anecdotes.
