Another one of my ideal world threads but just thinking of what folks on here would we like to see steam? Can be absolutly anything My own choices would be a GW 72xx tank, 42500, and then in fantasy land Id like to see one of those W1 tanks, They look bloody huge! Really look like sheer Brute force! Anyone else care to expand on those?

I'd like to see 31737 restored to working order and returned to the mainline. These Loco's were lovely machines capable of working heavy loads.

My fantasyland choice would be a 'Z'.

There are any number of diesels I'd quite like to put a match to!

Oh, sorry, is that not what you meant? ;)

A serious answer: If it is "What currently preserved loco would I like to see running, but which is unlikely ever to run again?", it's a toss up between the Adams T3 and Gladstone, but if I had to pick one - judgement of Paris - I'd take the T3. If it is "what extinct class would I like to see recreated?", I'd go with a Stroudley D tank. Long term, I think that is more probable ...

Gazelle - probably the first SG loco built just for fun; so why not restore it for the same reason.

North Eastern Class M 1621 and the afore mentioned GNR Atlantics. Though of the pair 251 in either as built with a non superheated boiler or if the current superheated boiler is retained refitting the superheater header and tubes. Wonder which would be easier/simpler a new 'heater header and elements, or replacement front and rear non superheat tubeplates. As the large flue tubes are I believe are a differnt size to those of the superheated type.
