Is 92203 really expected back on the NNR this year?

I assume that Wissington is to stay at Mid Suffolk Light Railway again this year?

Has Black Prince returned to the NNR? And is 5619 staying for the summer or has it moved on?

Neither are on site, 5619 departed for overhaul whilst 92203 is still awaited. Volunteers have been working on its Tender this week however...

How is the overhaul of 90775 progressing? Would be great to see it double heading with Black Prince in the next few years.

Progressing well enough. Chassis was started earlier in the year (currently back outside awaiting the next stages). The boiler is inside and is being worked on at present (much welding and grinding!) The tender tank was craned off the chassis last week for inspection and a work plan to be formulated.

So the line up for 2015 is a B12, B1, Y14, Black 5, 9F, Std 4, and Ring Haw. Not a bad line up by anyone's standards!

What is the NNR's annual steam mileage? It doesn't look as though any of the locos will be getting many miles and that may be a problem for their owners. Ring Haw is due to go on hire to the Gwilli but that still leaves a lot of engines to divide up a relatively small cake.

Will the B1, Black 5 and Standard 4 be spending some time on the main line this year? I'm guessing they won't be affected by the weight restrictions on the Bittern Line?

The loco mileage is quite good on the NNR I have seen 2013s loco mileage but I cannot find it at the moment, I think it is around 1,500 for each loco, it depends on the loco if they had repairs etc, the locos do get swapped quite abit during the summer so every loco gets its share.

A quick look at the 2015 timetable on the NNR website suggests about 13,000 to 14,000 miles, but a pretty extensive number of days operated (230 plus), and most Railways pay by the day, not per mile. At a rough estimate, and without knowing how the locos working is done, up to 300 steaming days available in total.

Apologies if I have mis-interpreted the timetable!

A round trip on the nnr is 10.5 miles, plus 6 miles getting to/from shed. The normal timetable is 4 round trips, the other diagram is 5, though this becomes 4 in 2015. The steaming days is northwards of 350.

Bear in mind that 44767 and 61306 both have periods of traffic booked away in 2015, and the y14 will be load linited when it returns. Just maybe, 61264, owners arent after locos worked to within an inch of their life like some railways?

I'm surprised that 61264's group are happy to run the miles that they have been doing, but at the end of 10 years they will have another overhaul to pay for and a lot of the costs involved are fixed, so the more miles they run, the more they'll have in the bank when the time comes. The owners of the loco doing 2000-3000 miles a year will pay the same for their new set of boiler tubes and almost certainly much lower earnings to do so, and I suspect that ash-related decay of frame members, rusting of tanks etc. doesn't vary much with usage. The number of thermal cycles on the boiler will be similar though, so I think it probably pays dividends to run the extra miles if one is getting paid for them.

5619 is undergoing repair at the Flour Mill as we speak. Out of curiosity, could those regulars amongst you from the NNR tell me how 5619 was received generally during its stay there please?
