Also, Phil Swallow recently announced on the SVR forum that he has sold the support coach, which suggests that mainline prospects are even more unlikely.

There have been consistent rumours here and there that Tornado is being pushed as the highest candidate.

Tornado is the logical choice as Belmond needs a prestige and powerful locomotive.

Well I Just didn't think that Brauton and Brittania were the correct ones with Torbay etc. duties out west.

A quick "heads up" if you want a last fix of 34053 on the SVR before the winter shutdown: Due to the failure of 2857, 34053 is now scheduled to operate on 3rd and 4th January, on SN1, ie starting from Bridgnorth.

Hopefully a banker will be available out of Bridgnorth. ( heavy rain forecast for Saturday morning.....)

A banker needed for a Bulleid...? Surely not?!

I saw that and read bunker, giving images of @paulhitch in a workshop at the dead of night manically converting a Bulleid Pacific into a tank in an effort to make them more economical. :)

what i think was meant was a banker to pay the coal bill, Actually driven correctly i'm sure any large wheeled pacific would manage to pull its train out of Bridgenorth without slipping to a stop. i can still remember watching Dave Frewin, coax 34105 up the shave one wet and damp october morning, we slipped, and slid most of the way, but he somehow kept us moving, first class enginemanship

According to the Severn Valley website 34053 is facing North, which means a tender-first departure from Bridgnorth with an 8 coach set. I assume that 34053 will have back sanders for tender first working, but I'm not being pessimistic, I think "SKP" looks the part on the SVR's longer coaching sets, and come the Spring should be joined by Taw Valley.

34053 was facing south yesterday whilst dead on shed at Bridgnorth, can't see it being turned since, however I may be wrong.... Here it is in the company of the 9F:

Cheers, thanks for the info. I was just going by the SVR website, but maybe that is not always uptodate on such matters.

Like the photo, by the way!

That picture shows very well how like the standards the rebuilt Bulleids look.

With 35006 being almost ready, perhaps a Bulleid themed May gala for GWSR?

So true... But one can hope it will, right?

And if word of City of Wells possibly visiting is to be believed, there could be a possibility of a Bulleid gathering (with Sir Keith Park to complete the set perhaps...? :))
