Does anyone have a proper (dimensioned, etc.) drawing of the SHELL-BP logos and lettering as applied to these wagons?

In the case of A6071 it has carried three variants of the lettering with text moved slightly each time. Repair instructions either central or to the side, number either on the solebar or tank side and with or without an A prefix. 'PETROLEUM PRODUCTS' added during the vehicle's service life, etc.

We have photos of all three variants in books but a proper drawing would be a big help.

    Thanks,
    Phil

Work is still happening in Swithland. A6071 is now sitting in its final coat and awaits sign writing. Once done, its a case of fitting new plates, and a couple of small jobs that need finishing.

Work has now commenced on A6581, 20T Shell Lubricating Oil tank. It is built on the same design as A6071 however was constructed by a different company, if i remember A6071 being Charles Roberts and A6581 being built by Fairfields. Phil will confirm those details. To say the least, there is very and i mean very little difference between the two. So far we have found only one thing, the open wheel at the top is a different design.

For more information, do check out out website at www.gcrwagongroup.co.uk and if you are down for the swithland gala do have a look at our work.

Yes. G R Turner also built wagons to the same design (a quick trawl of the VCT register yesterday found some preserved examples).

    Update:
Work is continuing on 6581, with work concentrated upon the brake gear and pipe work, with the vast majority now sitting in gloss.
Meanwhile we now have new bolts for the buffer mountings for 6071, just sourcing a suitable nut and these will be attached. Most of the bolts will need to come off for new pin holes to be drilled however this is a Wednesday or Saturday job, with access to a pillar drill available.

More information can be found on our website so do check it out, link is below

    Update on progress:

6071 has had its drawings found so painting of livery will commence in earnest.
6581 has had work continue on the cleaning of the frame, with the north east corner almost in undercoat. Due to future plans, work around the buffer and through pipe is on hold until we know it wont be moved for a while.
We will be assisting in the painting of the weltrol in the near future as well to help move this project forward.

The group is also in talks with new projects for us to undertake, more details of this will become known once all the details have been confirmed.

As always for more information see our website

Happy New Year to you all

Updates have been posted on our website with regards to 6071, A6581, Weltrol 901203 and B753722. Hopefully I can keep it updated this year, with the website receiving a make over in a couple of months.

    Our Aims for 2015:
    6071 to enter service
901203 (to be ready for re-wheeling, so that the other side can be shot blasted)
6581 to get further advancement on its overhaul.
753722 to have a cosmetic overhaul so it looks respectable.
The other vans to be re-roofed, doors repaired and fully re-painted.

Of course being outside, we have the ever so changeable weather to fight, for example today has seen snow, wind and rain. We also have a mega shunt to help organise with which until this has happened means certain items cannot be removed from vehicles.
