Website undergone bit of a winter overhaul. Dining, Education & Wedding pages updated, and "Locomotives" been updated slightly too though I'm waiting for the TKh lads to get back as I don't know their full history.

Wintry showers in the moorlands today. Mostly spend around the yard at Chedd replacing crossing timbers. We were missing the chisels for cutting out slots for the chairs so had to make do with an axe.

Dodging some of the showers today on the pway I popped in the carriage shed to see the progress on M35473. The carriage sides had been replated where required and now the carriage ends were been stripped back.

To be fair to the gang - this is a case of every picture does not tell a story. We were working in two gangs but the four on the crossing timbers furthest away from the camera had to stop work while some shunting took place. Naturally they came across to see how the job should be done.

Standard practice in British Industry for many a year.

I assume there were a few more off somewhere making the Tea and a couple more down the Pub or at the Bookies?

Lets get this straight, having already changed our first crossing timber we were making sure that they were up to our standard, but as you see they failed.
Only 1 man missing and he was sorting out the timber spikes, 10 turned out not bad considering the weather.

Modesty doesn't prevent me from admitting that I was the one doing the work! .... and contrary to Jeff's claim, our timber was a far superior fit :Joyful:

Bright and sunny for a change and the day spent replacing a chair at the points at Froghall. The first challenge was to find one of the right sort and this gave us a hunt in the brambles where we thought there might be one. While we were doing this two carriages were being loaded for their journey to North Norfolk railway. Having found the right chair and removed it from the rails in the brambles all we had to do was fit it where it belonged. Again we end up with a few watchers and fewer workers in the photograph.
