Just remember though, do the owners want their loco pushed towards it's limits with all the increased stresses that may be involved, or do they want it to continue to run reliably with no fuss? I think the answer must be the latter.

Whilst I totally agree with your point Ralph, it was reported here that on last weeks run, she was put straight at Yealand bank from the Carnforth start and the momentum maintained up and over Greyrigg, from there on speed was lower through the Lune Gorge, maybe to get the water back for Shap(cold engine) ? It must be possible with an easier start and better water management to improve the speed through Tebay and therefore the climb to Shap.

Not noticed any reports on how the two diesels performed on Saturday. I assume all went OK time wise.

They were fine given the recovery in the north and southbound timings. And I think that it's the same again this weekend.

There were some suggestions on the WNXX forum that they may have delayed a few Pendolinos on the northbound run, although others on the forum were saying it was down to signal checks rather than the locos.

The path has been tweaked a bit for the next run to allow for diesel haulage. The new path is on realtimetrains.

Always gives you a start when you see that sort of thing. I'm not on 'till 28th so any issues will hopefully be a thing of the past. Have to get my two-handed camera grip working properly too!

That's interesting, as last week the pick up at Watford was a few minutes late in spite of an on-time Euston departure. The long wait at Milton Keynes was intended to allow a Pendo to pass. In the event, we were late, it was a bit late (that it didn't get over all the way to Glasgow) and we were down a bit all the way to Crewe. Beware of RTT though.

We have been sent tickets Watford Jct to MK but quicker for us to drive Soton to MK due to the half hour wait if we get the connecting train. Is 46233 ok as UK steam are showing 46233/46115/70013?

Does anyone know where I can find out the rail mileage between Carnforth North Jn and Carlisle and Hellfield and Farington Jn? Rail miles seems to be down until "Early 2015" and need to know for Saturday to put down I my timetable to record the journey.

UKsteam is not showing a recent update to this week's WCME, so that probably just reflects some residual uncertainty about how the roster would be shared when the Duchess was first announced.

Thanks Al, I don't suppose you know the mileage between different points I.e. CNF to Oxenholme, Oxenholme to Tebay, Tebay to Shap etc...
