    Clasic aircraft links

Thanks a lot LSWR for the classic aircraft links, two great sites, bought a few lumps to my throat,
and managed to remind me of just how old I am. I have worked on some of the aircraft pictured
"Happy days" I used to have hundreds of photos from the 60,s 70,s and 80,s I attended most air
shows in those days, and working at an airport over that period I was able to get some very nice
privilaged shots, unfortunatly when my marriage broke up my ex wife burned the lot.

    great site link

Thank's RLANGHAM for your link to the lightening and thunder site, it is absolute heaven,
many great photos of some of my favorite aircraft. For some reason I can't access the
Austerclub site. Thanks again for a great link.

I love those Links. Talking of Lightnings and Lincs, I was up in Licolnshre, over the summer and visited the Hemswellantiques centre at the old RAF Bomber station at Hemswell. There is also a small Aviation museum on the site. with one of those lovely Lightnings there. CLICKY The Museum was shut the day I went but you could see all the outside exhibits through the fence.
I also am a fan of the Vulcan, after spending my childhood in Lincs, I remember those V-bombers which were based at Waddington. There was no ruless then about breaking the sound barrier over land then as I remember, Hearing the Sonic Boom many-a-time

EDIT; just found these sites, excelent. http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/index.htm

NOTE! I will copy and paste all links added to this thread to the initial posting later but won't deleat entries.

I served for 2 years at RAF Laarbruch, Germany, in the early '70s, in the Cold War, when we were equipped with Canberra B(I)8s and PR7s; later getting Buccaneers and Phantom FGR2s (the recce-pod version). There was also C Flight, 25 Squadron, equipped with Bloodhounds for air defence, and complemented by 1 Squadron RAF Regiment with Bofors 40/70s.

Laarbruch has now become Airport Weeze, and is about to have a couple of Ryanair 737s based there. There is now an embryonic museum housing a MiG 21 Fishbed H and an F104 Starfighter in the old QRA section.

@ Rlangham: Sorry, wasn't interested in the 'Tooms, they were new US stuff! This is the best I could do, when the 31 Squadron PR7's were withdrawn, and used as decoys:

For several years now there have 2 C54s/DC4s at North Weald,it is currently possible to see their fins from the M11,why they are there I have no idea, they are also visible on Google Earth. As for aviation sites flightglobal flightblogger is good for current affairs and there is a pilots blog called PPRuNe which covers many topics.

I just visited the aviation museum. Most soviet made aircraft seem to be there ( no tu144). Planes not looked after. Cheap and well worth it. No link as not sure how to do that from my phone, but google will tell you.

It looks like it might be grounded as problems, with the wing strut I believe, have been found in USA based B17's
