On another occasion when the light once again defeated the gallery, this is a still clip from a video sequence (not mine) taken from aboard the Scottish Lowlander of 26/09/14. Just HAD to smile at that one, as, apart from knowing personally one of the po-faced assembly, from the train I had only just previously witnessed the very best of the light that day to be at the Docker Viaduct position and where not a single photographer at all seemed to be present .... either examining their cameras .... or waving ecstatically in eternal gratitude at the passengers!

Mooning.jpg This was taken at Gayrigg showing that photographers can appreciate the train and look at their cameras at the same time

Just seen this on Youtube - the driver had to use the cylinder cocks to get people to stand back

WHY, OH WHY do people continue to post images such as this on the open internet? Do they not realise that they are providing yet more fodder to Network Rail in attempts by the latter to ban steam altogether from the main line?!!
YES, it is perhaps rather apparent that the silly old fool in the cloth cap is probably not a 'linesider', nor even a railway enthusiast for that matter, but that will make little difference in the long run!

Agreed. Perhaps all of those who have seen the clip on here and feel strongly could go onto YouTube and contact the poster directly saying what the problem is. That's what I will do.

Indeed, it is very unnerving seeing a member of the public in grave danger, Something needs to be done to stop this gross behavior, and hiding it away is not the answer. God forbid somebody is killed, then there will be real questions asked.

Exactly, I really don't get the idea that this sort of thing can or should be hidden.

Also spare a thought for the poor drivers who are having to deal with this, I assume that opening the Cocks was a last attempt when realising that an emergency brake application would never work. At some stage some poor driver isn't going to be lucky and all because of someone's stupidity.

Nuff said. You don't post here very often Ian, only if there is something important to impart to this madding crowd; that some major injury or death hasn't occurred to a mindless numpty on the wrong part of the platform has been luck of unseen proportions. I only hope that luck holds out.

    Cheers
