[Photoplug] Czech main line steam with 4-8-2 475.111

Here are 43 photos taken at the end of January of a Railway Touring Co charter from Pilsen to Gmund (Austria), about 150 km. Loco was 475.111, a 4-8-2 built by Skoda in 1947, one of 147. Their design was heavily influenced by Andre Chapelon of France, and all were fitted with double Kylchap blastpipe and chimney, roller bearings on all axles and a mechanical stoker. The class number 475 denotes 4 coupled axles, top speed of 100kmh (= 7 + 3 x 10) and 15 tonne axle weight.

I had a ride on the footplate, and have included eight shots.

Awesome machines the 475's! There was a 'gathering' of five in Praha/Luzna back in the summer of 2010 which I was lucky enough to see;

They used to work daily passenger shuttles between Česke Budjovice (Budweis) (CZ) and Summerau (A).
I have disguised the fact that the train was only one coach in length!
