Why would you need a box on the back after Brighouse?

As was established earlier in the thread, line is quite steep up to Summit.

But not overly so, Newcastle - Liverpool's were often Jubilee hauled, don't think 11 on is unduly excessive on this road !

Agreed, quite steep, but not as steep as other routes where Jubilees perform with similar loads unassisted e.g. S & C & Wilpshire & on the odd occasion Shap.

A risk-averse Network Rail. These things happen, but I'd like to be proved wrong on this and it is 'clean steam' west of Brighouse.

It will depend on the sectional times the tour needs to achieve to keep out of the way of service trains. 11 is quite a substantial load for a 5XP. DL assistance won't be needed if they can get a long enough path, but that's quite a big "if". Let's hope the line's quiet enough on a Saturday evening to allow it to run unassisted.

According to a previous post, after Hebden Bridge, the gradient tightens to 1:182 for 6 miles, you WILL hear it, but i'll bet it's doing over 45 at Summit given a good rail ! (will I live to regret that ? doubt it)
