Believe the K1 is back in March for the 50 years since closing special event.

Not for long though, is definitely a visitor nowadays rather than the home based engine it was back then.

If I may be a massive pedant for moment, Eric currently wears LMS wartime black with shaded gold lettering, whereas George carried post war black with unshaded straw lettering.

I am actually a fan of Eric in BR livery (although I would prefer an early crest) but as I don't own it I am more than happy to see the locomotive in steam. George always looked good in the post war livery, its a shame that the loco is not based on NYMR anymore but at least we have 44806 to play with instead!

Yes, the NYMR's fleet has evolved over the years. My particular favourites among the recent incomers are the B1 and 76079, the B1 because it is from a class so typical of BR years on the railway, and 76079 because it is as close as we can (currently) get to the class 3 2-6-0s from the '50s. 30926, equally, is as close as we can get to a D49.

I'd very much like Eric to stay in LMS livery, as there aren't nearly enough working 5s not in BR guise. I understand that 5025 will return in LMS lined black, and that plans are afoot to repaint 5305 in the same style, but other than that it's wall to wall Wilcock's Improved Engine Green.

I would normally agree about needing more locomotives in non br liveries but Eric is my only exception as its how I remember it from my first visit to the Moors and getting my first opportunity to visit the footplate of a locomotive.

Apart from the 2x weekends in March, is there any planned running to Battersby?

There are normally Battersby to Whitby services at all Galas, Spring, Awesome 70s & Heritage Diesel, Autumn and any others as notified on main web site. When main timetable is operational there is a daily service on main line metals to Whiby, up to five trips a day each way, depending on timetable.

Interesting 2 page article in the new steam railway magazine. There is reference to an offer of a long term lease on a field to erect a carriage storage shed on. I know a shed is in the steaming on plan, are there any more details of the proposal?

Sounds good if it is true, glad that more railways are at a stage where they can get vehicles under cover.

There is nothing concrete at this moment and its early days, and to soon to comment im afraid.
But yes it's a very well put together article, and further shows that opening Rillington section is costly with no available paths on Main or Heritage line, I also like the 5 page article on MK1 coaches.

Just out of interest, what are the current plans, if any, for the Bellwood site? Presumably not covered carriage storage?

What is the plan for Repton is she to be overhauled any time soon? Only reason for asking is with Stowe underway it would be nice to see all 3 together in steam!

Work has already started on the boiler. The chassis is awaiting workshop space but it believed to need little doing.

I went to the Gala with 5029 on the Sunday and there was no Battersby trips. Is there a restriction on which days you can run?

Trains have to fit in with the Northern T/T, which changed last year. If trains run to Battersby, it also restricts the times of NYMR trains running into Whitby as running Whitby - Glaisdale takes longer than running Whitby - Grosmont. At the moment, there is no Northern Sunday service so we are running on two Sundays in March. In the summer, there is an enhanced Northern Sunday service so it is difficult to run to Battersby. On Saturdays it is just about possible to run a couple of trains if they are top'n'tailed (not sufficient time to run round.) It aint easy!

Cheers for the explanation. Sadly can't do March due to shifts, so hoping for something later in the year. Last time I travelled this section was behind 44767 when we came over with 7822!

Re my question above about the future of the "Bellwood" site at Grosmont, could this feature in some way in the redevelopment proposals for Grosmont MPD, which is mentioned in the Steam Railway article as having "outgrown itself and becoming life-expired".
