There is, possibly, a tramway project developing in the south of England (most likely around the Bath area). Very early stages, although the initial idea is to create a museum focusing on the tramways of the South (Bath, Bristol, Swindon, Southampton etc.) and ultimately an operating tramway if possible. As I say, very early stages, but any interested parties are encouraged to get in touch by emailing me here: chris.auckland@outlook.com

    Many thanks

    Chris Auckland

I'm sure there was tramway which ran from somewhere in Portsmouth to Horndean, Hants (former home of the celebrated Gales brewery!!!) but there must have been one hell of an incline to get over Portsdown hill as there is no evidence of tunnels.

Very interesting shots those; I went to secondary school in Horndean, and always wondered the same about the trams on Portsdown Hill!

And as for the celebrated Gales brewery, the less said about the mess that first Fullers in closing the brewery, and then the developers have made of the site now, the better...! While I think of it, and completely off topic, the last time I was in the brewery, around 2003, there was a small stationary steam engine in there which had been restored for display; anyone any idea where that went?

Preposterous, Its all lies. I refuse to accept that Trams and Tramways existed south of the dark satanic mills.

Are you sure about the second photo? It looks to me as if that is pointing north with what is now the A3 climbing up the hill on the right, the top of Portsdown hill is up on the left, the QA would be behind the photographer to his left (if it existed at that point) I expect the photo was taken in the vicinity of the what is today the A3/A2177 junction.
