Well it is very easy to criticise the Southwold revivalists in hindsight, but I'd dearly love to know how many of their critics have successfully built their own narrow gauge railway from scratch...?

Hindsight supposedly enables criticism from after the event. I'm not yet holding my breath for 'the event' if it is to be the re-opening of the Southwold Railway, but if it was, say, the re-building of the Welsh Highland, then I plead guilty to having been involved for the last seventeen years, but am looking back with no more special hindsight than anyone else who has been involved with railway preservation during the last few decades. It is foresight that has been lacking on the Suffolk coast.

Guilty, your honour! Never built a narrow-gauge railway from scratch. Standard-gauge is a different matter;)!
