She was in clear sight of the signalbox, so if the signal had been on because of her would it not have stayed on until she had gone away? While technically trespassing, at least while in shot she was very well clear of the running lines, so not actually at risk. We've seen plenty of videos of people far closer, and apparently oblivious to approaching trains.

Don't give this charming lady a hard time. She was no doubt oblivious to the rules of trespass and went home telling her whole family about this wonderful steam locomotive that graced her station. What is more she may post her great video on here later! The railway enthusiast fraternity needs some fresh, female, nubile, blood and this lady has made a valuable contribution. Hats off to you Mrs. Smith.

As a former signalman in the 70's and 80's, I would not have blinked an eyelid at Mrs Smith's antics. First of all, she would not have failed to hear the locomotive approaching and with so much room in which to navigate of photo activities, she was neither at risk to herself or to the train. So shame on you signalman. Do what we all do on a Sunday on such a line. Sit in your chair, put your feet up and read the Sunday Telegraph. Health and Safety really has gone mad.

Some excellent photos and footage of the train yesterday, many thanks for sharing Gents. however, the star of the show must be 46115, what a machine!! It seems to pick up speed effortlessly, but oh that exhaust sound - it sounds to me if as if it has a kind of guttural edge to it's bark and at six beats to the bar, well, it's sheer audio pleasure!! Long may 46115 be let loose on the main line. Oh. and thanks also to all at West Coast for all of their hard work.

    Cheers

    Alan

Agree with all that Alan. Looking forward to the day 46100 provides a second symphony too. What would a double header sound like!

It is a bit of a joke really Danny that 6100 is still no nearer a mainline return after all the money pumped in .

Very true Steve but just maybe 2015 will give us a pair of Scots even if only for a short overlap.
The sonic boom from the pair in harness with a good load on a stiff gradient would be something to behold.
Point taken about the public money used to get 6100 to the point where a second rebuild was required.

The real injustice which bears similarities to the banking crisis, is that those who wasted the money never seem to be held to account for it.

Probably more likely that the Wigton signal check was down to the unit in front, which cleared the section right before before 46115 entered it...

The problem with many publicly funded projects is that there is too much scope for excessive costs to evade proper scrutiny as to whether they are market price or higher simply because its the national coffers footing the bill. Things are getting better slowly but the NAO reports often still make grim reading where financial accountability is concerned with private sector suppliers exploiting inadequate probity.

I was on the train and as always we look out at Warton as the in-laws used to live there. We especially keep an eye out at the cricket club knowing they used to go there. This time the Police were there looking over what appeared to be a covered corpse in the car park. Nothing on any news report so presume not suspicious but still very sad.

Do you mean Crewe as the Pathfinder tour started at Birmingham International. Four pick ups at Crewe within 2 hours today.
