Got lucky with the sun in between Gisburn and Nappa but what a lovely sight the Jubilee made

Second shot planned at Dent Head but engineering work going on east side of viaduct so a quick drive to my second option at Dandry Mire viaduct. Nearly got caught out walking up Garsdale Common in that 45699 was running 23 minutes early here.

    Thanks for looking....Simon

Well done WCRC, that loco sounds to be 'Well and truly fettled', pure jub and, she looks well on top of the job, on the mark by the look of the feather, I for one am delighted, can't wait to get behind her, thank you and well done once again, 'I was sceptical but happily you have proved me WRONG.:Muted:

Just arrived back in Carnforth after a good run from Carlisle. Steady run to the loop north of Penrith, then noisy acceleration before a signal check, picked up speed again and despite another easing shortly before Shap summit we still managed just over 40. Without the easing it could have been 10mph more. So Galatea is working well.

Not bad for an engine that had supposedly been laid up unusable !! ;)

Only the crews will be able to say if there is any significant improvement in operation but from videos she looks steam tight, with valves feathering etc. Whistle sounds a tad asthmatic from a video at Bamber Bridge, but hopefully today has provided more positives to West Coast than negatives.

Also good today to see no diesel involvement at request from NR, after Saturdays ill fated outing with the scot.

And the telling extra piece of information is that she only had 9.

Sensible loading for a loco that's had works attention IMO, but putting another 2 or 3 behind her isn't going to change that distinctive beat, no doubt we will see her out in the not too distant with more of a load, I will look forward to hearing more favourable words from you then ! Fingers firmly crossed.;)

Sensible loading for loco and route, period.
We know economics demand another two or three bogies but today was the optimal arrangement in an ideal world.
Maybe the Leander boys are working their magic on '99 too though.

Only 8 + pob since it appears that the bookings only warranted 8.

Agreed, compared to a load of 10 on a CME October 2013 and 11 on a WCME February 2014, both Northbound over Shap and Southbound over the S&C.

Lovely weather for a change and "Galatea" looked very comfortable with nine coaches on.

I know that this is also true of others but you do take a cracking picture Stuart and, for me, 3/4 front is fine. :D
