I love a Jubilee, lovely looking engine but. Just have to ask the question. What one do we go for? Red or green?

Not enough polished brass and copper to carry off the green livery properly.!

Surprised at the popularity of green. LNER, GWR, & Southern locos were predominantly green (LNER less so, but still a lot of green), LMS red adds a nice bit of distinctive variety. BR red also adds variety to the black and dark greens that hid the grime so nicely.

NB This does not negate a loco owner's right to paint their loco whatever colour they feel like.

Red green or black- theres enough of them for all the liveries to be represented!

Prefer the Green given the choice, but anything the loco actually carried is acceptable, so LMS crimson lake, LMS Black, BR Black etc, even if less likely to be a match for the stock behind it, 45699 while not as bad as some others in the incorrect looking dogs dinner stakes, is still technically wrong in BR maroon.

Given that loads of locos can have black or green liveries, it's nice to have something different in Crimson lake, so I reckon any loco that cn authentically wear crimson lake should. :) (and any others that can't - I never got to see the much discussed "red eight" :()

For me this is perfection: M_BR_45562_slide21-L.jpg

45562 should have been saved but at least we still have 4 of these fine machines around to enjoy.

I like to think 45562 still lives on in sprit with us, how many parts do the other 4 have from her?

Perhaps, just perhaps, 45593 when restored, might masquerade as 45562 for a while and retrace some of Alberta's old haunts. I think 45593 was temporarily renumbered/renamed at Barrow Hill some years ago.

Yes, it's a great picture from the Mike Morant collection I found. There are some superb shots of 45562 around on Web.

Nothing at all wrong with Black. These three looked just fine in Black ... and even better when photographed on colour film!
