The TV and Press seem to undertake very little research into their stories and news before publishing nowadays.
The BBC used to have every word taken as truth, now it just seems a guideline to what is happening.
Newspaper articles are also being glamourised to attract more readers, and online and printed versions even differ for some reason?

It's not that the media is becoming more slapdash as such, just that they never did, and still don't, make an effort with technology. When this stuff was current (steam) they would have been close enough. Nowadays they are OK with IT/internet terminology. But they are arts graduates and the like who don't understand or care about precision in technical matters...

Don't kid yourselves. Any story in a newspaper appears accurate unless you happen to know about the subject. This has always been the case. The advent of web publishing merely makes it worse as there is little or no editorial control over what appears.
