I had an excellent day at Swanage yesterday. As the weather was so nice, I walked on public footpaths from Swanage to Corfe Castle, and got a lot of nice shots from along the lineside.

Many thanks to the gala organisers and all the volunteers and train crew.

Here's my video of the day, I hope you enjoy the scenes:

Just got back home after a wonderful 3 day jaunt: Bluebell for the Deltics on Friday, Mid Hants for Lion and an unexpected 37 deputising for Bittern on Sat and a wonderful day at Swanage today. Congratulations to all at Swanage for a brilliant timetable and a really good day out. Looking forward to the Diesel event!

I think that one of the refreshing things about the operational organisation of this gala is that most of them (through the eyes of a 55 yo) are about 17 years old. The operations manager must have bunked school to be there for Friday plus the footplate staff all say innit. Only the guards and platform staff had teeth younger than themselves. What a young and vibrant railway.

That's basically the weekend I'd planned until work needs got in the way! Glad someone managed that particular hat-trick.

A couple of shots from 1962. Can we have a rerun of the 1054 through train from Waterloo (with no diesel on the back) and see 30053 in the bay at Wareham please? I know this bay has gone but the other side hasn't.

On behalf of the SR, thank you all for your kind words; I think its fair to say that we all enjoyed ourselves as well!

Apologies for any inconvenience/irritation/confusion caused by the changes to loco workings following the failure of Manston yesterday; I hope this didn't cause too much disappointment. I realise that this did lead to an unusual situation for a day down here where almost everything, including the tank engines, was facing Norden!

Sorry to hear you didn't get the hat-trick. I've taken many weekends for the team over the last 6 months so as to facilitate a few long weekends April to Sept!
